Morrowind is the third game released in The Elder Scrolls series, and was released 1st May 2002 in North America and the next day in Europe. Unlike its predecessor Daggerfall, in which the world was randomly generated, Morrowind's world was completely handcrafted. As a result of this, the amount of the world of Nirn that was represented in-game was shrunk down to only the island of Vvardenfell. During development this was going to include the rest of the province of Morrowind, home of the Dunmer (the Dark Elves).
Morrowind had two expansion packs. Tribunal added the city of Mournhold. This being the capital of Morrowind, and home to both King Hlaalu Helseth and Almalexia. Bloodmoon added the cold island of Solstheim to the north west of Vvardenfell. Several smaller plugins were also created and released by Bethesda.
